Welcome to the Challenge Team 39th Champions Fundraising Luncheon! Join us for an exciting in-person event at Michaels At Shoreline where we celebrate our champions and raise funds for a great cause - the Youth in Our Community.

ADULT CHAMPION: Officer Thomas Low, MVPD
During his 6 years as an SRO, he built a lot of rapport and relationships with the students and staff within the elementary schools which made a positive impact when the students entered middle school. He rebuildt the PAL Mentoring programs in both Castro and Monta Loma which was affected through our staffing changes and Covid and the MVPD Explorer Program, also losing a lot of our kids through Covid. Not only did he make an impact on the kids in the MVPD Explorer Program, he made a great impact on kids from other explorer programs from other police agencies.
YOUTH CHAMPION: Marvin Lopez Garcia, Los Altos High School
Marvin is a student who exemplifies balance, leadership, service, and academic excellence. His drive to uplift others and commitment to his own growth makes him not only a standout student but a role model for his peers. Marvin has shown an unwavering commitment to service through LAHS Peer Tutoring, addressing food insecurity through Food4All, where he and his team helped organize food donations to local families in need. He served as Vice President of MVLA Youth Mentors for two years, helping to bridge the education gap for younger students in the community. He is Co-President of the Latino Student Union this year, where he is eager to foster cultural pride and community engagement. He’s balanced rigorous academics with competitive sports, participating in Varsity Football and Track & Field, and even JV Volleyball as a freshman. Academically, this student has earned distinction as an AP Scholar with Honor and received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the World Language Department at the Latino Academic Achievement Night. He’s also taken on a rigorous course load, completing ten AP courses across subjects like AP Psychology, AP Spanish Literature, AP Physics, and AP English Literature.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Chris Hsiung
He is the founding board member and Executive Director of "The Curve," a non-profit leadership organization co-founded with Simon Sinek and forward thinking police chiefs and sheriffs from across the country. The Curve aims to provide inspiration, leadership development, and resources to modern minded leaders, with the goal of advancing police culture from within the profession. A retired Police Chief with over 30 years of public service in the San Francisco Bay Area, Chris previously led the Mountain View Police Department and now serves as Undersheriff for the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
