Chalked Up(state) Queer Climbers: 2nd Tuesdays in Latham

Chalked Up(state) Queer Climbers is a program of Crux Climbing, based in NYC.

All experience levels, bodies, and abilities welcome (pro tip: you don’t have to be “strong” to climb)!

Our hosts are here to answer questions and help connect you with others. If it's your first time, the gym staff will give your an overview of bouldering and the space. If you’re new and want us to keep an eye out for you, email [email protected]

When you check in at the front desk, let them know you're here for the Chalked Up meetup, and they should point you in the direction of our group. We usually circle up for introductions in front of the yoga room until 6:15p.

Bouldering a form of climbing that is lower to the ground and utilizes mats for safety, rather than needing ropes.

The gym has lots of space to spread out, a fitness area, yoga room, and a small top-rope area (which is particularly good for kids, learning to top-rope, or adaptive climbers needing roped protection).

Multiple single-stall all-gender bathrooms and shower rooms in the back of the space.

The gym pathways for the entire space are wide and on parking lot level. The mats to reach the bouldering walls are about 1 foot higher than the floor. There are many benches around the gym to rest on.

Some individuals in the group are adaptive climbers or have experience climbing with people with physical disabilities. If you have questions about what is available and how we can best support your needs, please reach out.

14-17yo: The gym allows older teens to be unaccompanied by an adult. Please ensure a guardian has signed a gym waiver before or during drop-off. Chalked Up and our volunteers are not responsible for the supervision of minors.

Under 14yo: Due to gym policies and the style of climbing, we cannot accommodate children under 14yo at our events. However, the gym has youth-specific programming.
