Chalk Their Walk - Drawing on Sidewalks Around Vel or at Home

Hi Neighbors and Friends,
A fun activity that can have an out-sized impact in making students and families feel welcomed, cared for, and like they belong here, is writing positive messages and fun drawings on the sidewalks around the school and along the paths that students take walking to school.
School starts on Tuesday, September 1, and this is a bit rain-sensitive, but worth a shot.
So there are two possible ways to engage with this idea.
1. Sunday, August 30, anytime throughout the day, folks can go to Vel and pick some sidewalk space to decorate, write on, color, leave an inspiring drawing or words. This does not need to happen all at the same time, but is fun to see folks and meet and work together.
2. Draw or write encouraging messages or images outside your own house, or throughout your neighborhood where students and families will be walking to and from schools.
