A Little Cha-Cha Slide History

Chicago DJ Willie Perry Jr., better known as DJ Casper, created the original “Casper Slide” in 1998 for an aerobics class taught by his nephew. Its easy-to-follow dance instructions quickly caught on, leading to “Casper Slide Part 2” in 2000. The song became an international sensation and reached No. 1 in the United Kingdom in 2004. Today, the “Cha-Cha Slide” remains a favorite at skating rinks, weddings, parties, schools, and celebrations around the world.
