This month’s hike is a laid-back adventure through one of Central Florida’s hidden gems, the Orlando Wetlands Park. We’ll explore the trails on a nature and birdwatching walk led by David, keeping our eyes open for some of the park’s 200+ bird species, plus butterflies, reptiles, amphibians, and whatever else decides to show off that day. This is an easy, unhurried walk designed for looking, listening, and enjoying the scenery, not speed-walking.
Bring your camera and binoculars if you have them, along with a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, water, and whatever makes you happiest on the trail. No pets, please.
The terrain is flat, restrooms are available on site, and after the walk we’ll stop by the education center to wrap things up and learn a bit more about the wetlands.
Leading the way is David, an avid birder, native plant nerd in the best way, amateur photographer, and experienced guide who knows how to spot the good stuff and make it interesting.

Approximate Walking Time: 2 hours
Distance: Maybe 2-3 miles. It will depend on the wildlife we see.
Difficulty Level: Beginner - We'll be going at slow pace with many stops to view and learn about the wildlife.
Terrain Notes: Easy flat terrain
Bathrooms: Yes
Where to meet: Find us at the picnic table pavilion (just past the restrooms) at 8 am. We will be setting off on the trail promptly at 8:10am.
