Experience the thrill of elevation in Florida! ;-) While it may not be the towering peaks of Utah or the Appalachian Mountains, this hike is fabulous. It's a lovely trail that revolves around a sinkhole, with 100-foot change in elevation. Encounter gopher tortoises, rabbits, and the occasional deer along the way.Here's the real gem of this park – its containment. The outer loop trail spans about a mile, creating the perfect perimeter for our adventure (see the screenshot in the pictures). Hike into a maze of winding trails leading into the heart of the sinkhole. The beauty lies in the freedom to tailor your hike to your liking – go long or keep it short. Whether you prefer sticking with the group or venturing solo, don't worry, we'll cross paths throughout the journey.

Where to meet: Find us just inside the park by the parking lot starting at 8:45am. We will be setting off on the trail promptly at 9:00am.
MAKE NOTE...There are two parking lots for Hidden Waters. We will be at the lot on Abrams Rd by the church (ha!).

Be prepared for exposed roots, elevation, loose leaves, and sand. Though this hike is 4-5 miles, the elevation change and obstacles make it more challenging than a flat hike. Since the hike is very contained, you can make your way back to your car early without too much trouble. The AllTrails app has all the trails marked. See the screen shot of our last hike there, which was 5 miles.
What to bring:
- Water
- Snacks
- Wear good shoes and clothes that can get dirty/muddy. Shoes with ankle support are a good idea for this hike.
An extra pair of shoes for the drive home is always recommended.
- Bug Spray
- Sunscreen, hat, sun shirt, snacks, and anything else you need to be comfortable on the hike.
