Join us for a CERT Refresher Training on Disaster Psychology — an essential session for understanding the emotional and psychological impact of disasters on survivors and responders alike.
When disaster strikes, the mental and emotional toll can be just as significant as the physical. As CERT volunteers, understanding disaster psychology helps you better support survivors while also taking care of yourself and your teammates in the field.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand disaster trauma and its effects on survivors and rescuers, including CERT volunteers
- List steps to take for personal and team well-being before, during, and after a disaster response
- Demonstrate key steps to apply when providing aid to someone experiencing survivor's trauma
This training is a powerful reminder that effective disaster response goes beyond physical aid — it's about showing up with compassion, awareness, and the tools to support those in crisis. Come ready to learn and reflect on this important aspect of emergency preparedness.
This refresher is for current CERT members only. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend!
