Ceramic Sculpting Workshop at Manchester Craft and Design Centre
About this Event
Learn how to bring your creations to life! You will be taught the fundamentals of sculpting with clay, and be guided step-by-step through making your very own ceramic creation. You can make anything from cups, dishes, sculptures, hanging decorations, wall hangings, functional pieces... the list goes on! You're also welcome to bring along your own ideas, and you will have support on hand to bring them to life in this workshop.
You will select a glaze colour for your ceramic pieces, and they will be taken away to be fired in the kiln. You can then collect your pieces from Manchester Craft and design Centre, or have them posted to you.
Your ticket includes:
- All tools, equipmet and materials
- Glazing and kiln firing of your ceramic sculpture
- Expert guidance into the ceramic sculpting process
Ben Saunders (he/him) is a queer, trans masc artist based in Manchester, UK. His work largely focuses on ceramics, illustration and community building, addressing themes surrounding queer and trans masc bodies, intimacy and sex positivity.
Alongside his creative work, Ben also facilitates and organises workshops and events for the queer community, such as curated art exhibitions, community performance nights, queer life drawing and ceramic workshops. Building community is at the heart of all of Ben’s work as both an artist and facilitator.
This workshop will take place in Space2, located on the ground floor of Manchester Craft and Design Centre.
Suitable for ages 16+. Those under 18 should be accompanied by an adult.
