Ceramic Cup Making Workshop with Doni Langlois
About this Event
Hand-Built Ceramic Cups — A Two-Part Workshop with Doni
2 Saturdays- July 25th & August 1st from 1-4 PM
Have you ever wanted to drink your morning coffee or evening tea from a cup you made with your own hands? This two-part workshop is your chance to do exactly that — no experience required, just curiosity and a willingness to get your hands a little dirty.
Part One: Building Your Cups (2–3 hours) In the first session, instructor Doni will walk you through the fundamentals of hand-building — one of ceramics' oldest and most satisfying techniques. You'll shape two cups entirely by hand, learning methods for forming walls, smoothing surfaces, and adding personality through pattern and texture. Doni will be by your side throughout, offering personalized guidance and encouragement as you work. All tools and materials are provided, including a variety of supplies for decorating and adding surface interest to your pieces.
Part Two: Glazing (the following week) After your cups have had a week to dry and be bisque-fired, you'll return to apply glaze — the colorful, glassy coating that gives ceramics their finished look. Doni will introduce you to the glazing process and help you choose colors and techniques that complement the work you did in your first session.
Pickup Your cups will be fired after the glazing session. Return the following week to collect your finished, food-safe pieces — ready for your favorite beverage and years of daily use.
