About Our Speaker
Michelle is the CEO/President of the Tucson Botanical Gardens. A Native of Michigan, she began her career working for a broad spectrum of businesses, including managing architectural, civil engineering, and law firms. She also worked in television as a sales executive and a loan officer for a Detroit bank. Nearly 30 years ago, she pulled all those skills together and launched a long and successful career as a nonprofit leader. In 1999, she and her family moved to Tucson, where she worked for a variety of cultural organizations until she found her home at the Tucson Botanical Gardens.
Michelle has been honored with the title of AFP’s Southern Arizona Fundraiser of the Year, On Media’s CEO of the Year in the large nonprofit category, and most recently, was named an Arts Hero by On Media.
Michelle’s reach extends beyond TBG, as she regularly collaborates with other nationwide gardens. She sits on the Board of the American Public Garden Association and has been an invited speaker on various topics for local and national organizations.
