This interactive, tutor-led workshop explores the dynamic between the CEO/Director/Manager and the Chair of an organisation, helping participants to better navigate the complex landscape of governance, strategy and board leadership. Designed to strengthen understanding of roles, responsibilities and effective governance, the workshop offers practical insights for both board and executive leadership.

Why it matters
The relationship between the Chair and CEO is central to effective governance. As the environment in which board members and charities operate continues to change, a shared understanding of governance, clear expectations and effective board leadership are essential to ensuring organisations are well governed and strategically focused.

- The changing environment in which board members and charities have to operate
- Ensuring a deep understanding by both Chair and CEO of the fundamentals of governance
- The role and expectations of the Chair
- Ensuring boards fulfil their governance role
- The three key strands of governance: corporate/fiduciary, strategic and impact
- Making informed decisions
- Making sure your board is addressing the right issues
- The Chair/CEO and CEO/board relationship, including behaviours that can damage the relationship
- Refreshing the board and finding new board members
What to expect
The workshop includes expert facilitation, discussion and a practical case study exercise, providing participants with opportunities to apply learning to real governance scenarios.
