Join fellow intermediate and middle school educators for the Homegrown History Summit—a day dedicated to exploring the rich history of Marathon County through the lens of logging, local stories, and place-based teaching strategies. Held at the historic Woodson History Center, this free professional development opportunity is designed to deepen your content knowledge, equip you with practical classroom strategies, and inspire new approaches to teaching history.
In partnership with the Wisconsin Council for the Social Studies and the Marathon County Historical Society, the summit will feature:
~Engaging local history content focused on logging and community development
~Lessons with primary sources and inquiry-based learning
~Pedagogical sessions tailored to elementary social studies instruction
Whether you’re new to teaching social studies or looking to expand your toolkit, this summit offers a meaningful, collaborative experience right in the heart of Central Wisconsin.
Registration is required, limited to first 50 people. Lunch will be on your own—feel free to bring your own or explore local options nearby.
