We welcome all to Centering Prayer held each Monday evening at 7 pm in the small chapel. For those new to Centering Prayer, please don’t hesitate to come! It is simple and Father Rick will provide you with guidance. In short, Centering prayer is a “resting in God,” a prayer of silence that is done in silence. It was developed out of Christian monastic sources in the 20th century by a group of catholic monks led by Thomas Keating. Our approach is to follow the “In the Evening” Daily Devotion liturgy on page 139 of the Book of Common Prayer. After reading, we enter into 20 minutes of silence. We then offer prayers and close. Often the group will read a book together and take about 15 minutes or so to discuss it. However, there is no need to read the book prior to attending. Your presence is always more than enough! About once a month we conduct Eucharist in combination with our 20 minutes of silence, drawing liturgy from the New Zealand Prayer Book.
