**Sunbeam "Tiger" Land Speed Record Centenary celebration - Southport 14-16th March 2026****Aintree Circuit Club have finalised details** with Sefton Council for the celebrations of the 152.33 mph record set by Henry Segrave on 16th March 1926 on Southport Sands. Sunbeam Talbot Darracq Register are enthusiastically supporting this event and encourage members of this group and the public to join in the celebrations. This was the last time a Land Speed Record was achieved by a conventional racing car and in the UK. Originally named Ladybird, the Sunbeam racing car was later named Tiger and successfully raced at Brooklands. It's supercharged 4 litre V12 engine was based on two of the 1925 Sunbeam Grand Prix winning 6 cylinder blocks. The Sunbeam Tiger name was later re-used for the hugely successful V8 engined version of a Sunbeam Alpine sports car in the 1960s.
