The Instituto Cervantes New York invites audiences to an evening dedicated to the celebrated Chilean poet Enrique Lihn, marking the publication of by New Directions Publishing.
This special event will bring together the book’s translators, Jonathan Cohen and David Unger, for a bilingual reading and conversation exploring Lihn’s international legacy, the challenges and rewards of translating his early poetry, and the enduring relevance of one of Latin America’s most influential literary voices.
The program will also feature Andrea Lihn, President of the Fundación Enrique Lihn, and writer and scholar Roberto Brodsky, who authored the introduction to the volume. Together, the participants will reflect on Lihn’s literary impact, the journey of his work into English, and the continuing resonance of his poetry for contemporary readers.
