Celebration of Mt Jefferson State Natural Area- Ashe County, NC

A community hike to commemorate the induction of Mt Jefferson State Natural Area into the Old-Growth Forest Network.
About this Event

You are invited to join the Old-Growth Forest Network and Mt Jefferson State Natural Area to celebrate the induction of this special ridge forest into the Network. The Old-Growth Forest Network is creating a map of mature, protected forests, and the people who steward them. Mt Jefferson SNA has been selected as the Ashe County, NC representative for the Network with remnant hardwoods on steep slopes and rugged oaks along the ridge. The hike is suitable for most regular hikers, considered easy to moderate, with an initial incline before flattening out along the ridge.

Attendees are encouraged to prepare with full water bottles, sunscreen and hats, appropriate footwear for a moderate hike, and anything else that would make the approximately 2 hour event comfortable. We plan on this event moving forward rain or shine, so please plan accordingly.
