Join us on Friday, March 7th to celebrate the revitalization of Market Plaza & Park Avenue in Downtown Historic Lake Wales. Festivities begin at 5:30pm with a Taste of Downtown. Sample complimentary appetizers, wine and beer from local downtown restaurants and bar. Ample parking is available. Golf-cart shuttle service will be in operation to transport citizens throughout the area.
Market Plaza & Park Avenue between Scenic Highway and Wetmore Street is geared to become a hub of activity and the social center of the community – a family-friendly destination. The redesign features on-street parking, enlarged sidewalks, enhanced lighting, outdoor seating and dining areas. The landscape architecture comprises street trees, native plants, hanging-flower baskets and rain gardens. The space has come alive with trees and plants carefully curated to reflect our “City in a Garden” initiative.
The revitalization of Market Plaza & Park Avenue is part of the City’s award-winning “Lake Wales Connected Plan,” a long-range plan, initiated in 2019 by Lake Wales Main Street and facilitated by City staff. It’s a multimillion- dollar revitalization project of the historic core funded by the Lake Wales Community Redevelopment Agency and awarded national and state grants.
A key priority of the “Lake Wales Connected Plan” is to create a vibrant environment for residents and tourists to easily commute to area establishments in a botanical-rich environment between the historic core and Northwest Neighborhood.
