Witness spectacular presentations of Mohiniyattam and Bharatanatyam in this heartfelt tribute to two icons of the artforms – Kanak Rele and T. Balasaraswati Experience the beauty of Indian Classical dance forms with two distinct presentations dedicated to Mohiniyattam stalwart & scholar Kanak Rele and Bharatanatyam legend T. Balasaraswati. Celebrating the works of the Padma awardees, the evening is a tapestry of captivating choreography, tender storytelling, and evocative expressions. Renowned for her stirring expressions and advocacy for Mohiniyattam, Kanak Rele’s immense contribution is recognised worldwide, while T. Balasaraswati remains a peerless exponent of Bharatanatyam, having altered the course of the dance form forever with her unique legacy. Guided by this heritage, an immersive performance by the senior dancers of Kanak Rele’s 50-year-old institution Nalanda Nrityakala Mahavidyala stitches together her hallmark masterpieces, with ace danseuses like Madhuri Deshmukh, Saji Menon, Megha Mohad and students at the helm. Bharatanatyam dancers belonging to the Tanjore Court of lineage offer a glimpse of the original Sadir form (precursor of Bharatanatyam) in the next presentation, with T. Balasaraswati’s grandson, 9th generation Bharatanatyam dancer, and the founder of the Balasaraswati Institute of Performing Arts Aniruddha Knight conjuring magic on stage, along with his talented students Maharani Parisumuthu and Abinaya Senthil.
