The West Virginia Humanities Council and the West Virginia Folklife Program invite you to a special public celebration honoring Gerry Milnes, recipient of the 2026 National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship, the nation’s highest honor in the folk and traditional arts.Join us at our historic headquarters, the MacFarland-Hubbard House, for an evening celebrating West Virginia’s rich cultural traditions. The event will feature live music performances, remarks from friends and colleagues, and refreshments.
For decades, Gerry Milnes has helped preserve and share the music, stories, and traditions of West Virginia through his work as a folklorist, musician, filmmaker, and educator. This celebration recognizes his extraordinary contributions to the state’s traditional arts and cultural heritage.
