Did you know that Thomas Jefferson was a skilled host when it came to entertaining over dinner? Did you know that he used those skills of breaking bread to keep the nation from a breaking point? The year was 1790, and Thomas Jefferson was quite concerned about tensions between Alexander Hamilton, President George Washington's Treasury secretary (and a Federalist aligned with the Northern states), and James Madison, a Virginia slaveholder and Southern Democratic-Republican Congressman.
Jefferson, Washington's secretary of state, used the skills he learned as an ambassador to France to create an environment most conducive to camaraderie, communication, and compromise.
Please join us as we recreate this historic evening, which was later blasted by a jealous Aaron Burr (he wasn't invited), inspiring the song "The Room Where it Happens" in the Broadway hit musical "Hamilton." You are sure to get a much more delicious history lesson than you experienced in high school.
Tickets are $150 +tax and must be purchased in advance. The dinner will include wine pairings in line with Mr. Jefferson's original selections. To secure your seat, PM us or text 918-850-2579.
