All are invited to an ecumenical prayer service commemorating the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea. The prayer service, Christian Prayer: The Faith We Profess, will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd, at 7:00pm, in the Jack and Deb Miller Memorial Chapel at Ashland University, on the corner of College, King, and Claremont. Sponsored by the Ashland University Office of Christian Ministry, the service will offer an opportunity for Christians of every tradition to reflect, sing, pray, and profess the creedal faith that has defined what we believe since the year 325 AD. In gathering as one, we hope this celebration furthers the unity among Christians for which Jesus prayed in John 17:21, “that the world may come to believe.”
Leading the liturgy will be Dr. Josh Sumpter (AU Chaplain), Rev. Nancy Hollomon-Peede (Baptist), Rev. Dr. Adam Carrington (Anglican), Rev. Dr. Eric Riesen (Lutheran), Dcn. Greg Loya (Byzantine), Dcn. Mike Hayes (Catholic), Fr. Jim Winings (Catholic). Lessons, prayers, and songs will be led by students and faculty representing various ministries/departments of Ashland University and Ashland Theological Seminary.
A light reception will follow the service.
