It's time again to show our appreciation for all the nurses, past, present and future, who have and will make a difference throughout our lives. This year's event promises to be another unforgettable afternoon filled with even more vendors, a basket raffle, delicious food, an engaging speaker, and opportunities to connect with others who want to support and honor our nurses.

At Celebrate Nurses, you will have the chance to celebrate the hard work and dedication of nurses from all specialties. Whether you're a nursing student, a nurse yourself or simply want to honor and support these dedicated professionals, this event is for you!

About this year's keynote:

This year's keynote speaker is Mary Lenzini. Mary was born and raised in Southern Illinois. She graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse and from the United States Naval Women Officer’s School as an Ensign USNR United States Naval Women Officer’s School in 1968 as an Ensign USNR. In 1975, she attended The American University to achieve her BS in Nursing and went on to get her MA in Gerontology in 1980 from the University of New Haven. She also completed the Strategic Perspectives in Non-Profit Management course at Harvard Business School 1999 and became a Certified Home Health and Hospice Executive in 1999. Mary served at the USNR National Naval Medical Center Bethesda 1968-1970 Lt(jg), was a National Naval Medical Center civilian staff nurse from 1972-1973, served as a school nurse for Groton Public Health Nursing Service Homecare from 1976-1980, was a East Lyme VNA Supervisor from 1980-1981 and became an Administrator from 1981-1988. She held Directorship positions with Shoreline Visiting Nurse Association from 1988-1996, was President/CEO of VNA of Southeastern CT from 1996-2020. In her spare time, Mary is the Co-Founder Community Meal Second Congregational Church New London (now third Saturday Meal at NL Community Meal Center) since 1987, has served on the Homeless Hospitality Center of New London Board of Directors since 2007 and has been president/president elect of the Rotary club of New London since 1997. Throughout her incredibly successful professional and volunteer careers, she has earned numerous awards and citations, including: Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Southeastern CT (2017), Kiwanis Club Humanitarian Award (2015), Well Healed Woman L&M Hospital (2012) and Nightingale Award for Nursing Excellence (2013).
