Celebrate Life, Remember the Holy Souls

“It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins." - 2 Maccabees 12:46
In reverence for the holy souls this year, St Jerome’s Purgatorian Society is hosting a prayerful celebration for the souls of our loved ones with Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) style ofrendas!
These altars are a way to gather a collective of prayers for the repose of our loved ones while also honoring them.
Parishioners who would like to create an altar for a particular loved one or a group of souls (i.e. all those lost during the AIDS crisis, or those lost during a recent natural disaster...etc) are invited to participate!
Altars will be on display in the event center where we will hold a prayerful and joyful opening reception with light snacks and refreshments following All Saint Day Sunday Mass on November 1st, with a special Mass held among the ofrendas on All Souls Day, Monday November 2nd at 6:00pm.
We will gather to assemble our respective altars on Friday night, October 30th at 6:00. If you are not available on Friday, please see Chandra or another member of the Purgatorian Society to arrange a convenient time to set up your ofrenda. Sign-up sheets are in the narthex!
The Purgatorian Society looks forward to uniting with the parish in prayerfully assisting these holy souls on their journey into repose!
