Join us Wednesday, April lst for the monthly meetings of the GFWC Historic Brooksville Womans Club, 131 South Main Street in Brooksville. This month's meeting theme is Celebrate Earth Day. Join us for lunch at 11:30am or dinner at 6pm. Cost is $10 cash $12 credit. Members are encouraged to bring a guest who will receive a complimentary meal. Guest speaker for the luncheon will be Joanna Reilly-Brown. Conservation Acquisition Planner for the Putnam Land Conservancy. She will speak about efforts underway to conserve land that has been deemed critical to our local Wildlife Corridor in Ridge Manor. Joanna will speak about efforts underway to connect critical gaps in the statewide Florida Wildlife Corridor primarily through engaging with private landowners, assisting with real estate transactions, and working with federal, state and local partners and programs.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Florida and a Juris Doctor and Certificate in Environmental and Land Use Law from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.
The dinner speaker will be Kristen Nowak, Corridor Implementation Manager for the Florida Wildlife Corridor. She will speak on the dynamics of land acquisition for critical properties in the Florida Wildlife Corridor and the role that state funded programs such as the Florida Forever Program and Family Lands Protection Program play in acquiring them.
Kristen Nowak is a professional wetland scientist with nearly 20 years of experience assessing, restoring, and monitoring streams, wetlands, and uplands throughout Florida. Kristen holds a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering Sciences from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science from Wellesley College.
