About this Event
The Celtic traditions have long held an aura of mysticism and allure for many. Celebrate Celtic Month when the Plunk Murray band performs at the historic Allen Christian Church, 252 E. St. Mary Dr., at 7:30 pm Friday, March 7.
Celtic culture has influenced music from Edinburgh to Dublin to Appalachia to Texas.
Plunk Murray not only performs ancient laments as well as Celtic tunes from bands like The Dubliners and The Irish Rovers, the group also play contemporary ballads.
Since the band's inception in 2013, Plunk Murray has impressed crowds at the North Texas Irish Festival, The Sherman Celtic Festival, pubs across Texas and Oklahoma, and at countless private functions.
The band is comprised of band leader Nate Morefield (accordion, banjo, whistle, mandolin and vocals), Linda Relph (fiddle) who was the California State Ladies Champion for fiddling four times, Johnny Zercher (lead vocals, mandolin and banjo), Bruce Johnson (guitar and vocals), Erin Bliss (drums), and Joel Black (bass).
T-shirts and CDs will be available.
Sponsored by the Allen Public Library, the concert is free and no reservations are required. Call 214-509-4911 for more information.
