Ceilidhs at the BIS 2026 - The Proud Islanders with guests Louise Arsenault & Helene Bergeron
"The Proud Islanders" on PEI represents a musical group playing traditional songs, and refers to the pride locals take in their province.
Karl Proude was born in Springvale and his first love was Bluegrass music. His next venture was traditional music and he formed the Docksider's Band with Albert Arsenault. Karl is determined to keep the music alive of some artists and songwriters who are no longer with us, as well as promoting some of the newer songwriters.
Armand Arsenault was born in Abram's Village. He comes from a musical family. He started out with Guitar and then migrated the accordion. He is self taught and his repertoire includes Celtic, traditional, folk and country in both English and French.
Louise Arsenault has a long history playing traditional music on the fiddle all over the world. She is a former member of the groups Barachois, Les Girls and Gadelle.
Helene Bergeron is considered to be one of Canada's finest step dancers. She also is a children's performer and musician performing all over the world. She was a member of the groups Barachois and Les Girls and a member of Gadelle, which is still performing today.
