Learn how to spread the wings of the largest silk moth in North America, which can have a wingspan of up to 7 inches!
The class will learn about the insect preservation process, pick out
their very own hand-raised cecropia moth, pose them, and take them home on a foam pinning board to dry. If interested in further practicing at home, additional insect taxidermy supplies and
insect specimens will be available for purchase in-store after class.
*Moths require very gentle hands, so this class is not recommended for young children.
Cecropia moths are known for sometimes seeping body oils after death, but this does not affect
the quality of the moth and can be treated with a 100% fragrance-free acetone. We will go over
how to do this during class, if any treatment is needed.
