Australia's Biggest Music Gathering Moves Beyond the Stage with Official BIGSOUND Record Fair
As Australia's biggest music industry gathering returns to Fortitude Valley, BIGSOUND is extending beyond conference rooms and live stages, connecting the national music industry with Brisbane's grassroots music community.
Hosted by Glitter Records and California Lane, the California Lane CD & Record Fair returns as an official BIGSOUND event on Wednesday 2 September and Thursday 3 September 2026, transforming one of Fortitude Valley's most distinctive laneways into a meeting place for artists, delegates, collectors, historians, independent businesses and music fans.
The market will feature independent record dealers, vinyl DJs, thousands upon thousands of CDs and records from Glitter Records, and a vibrant mix of local music culture. Visitors can also enjoy the return of respected local historian Robert Allen, whose guided music history walks explore Fortitude Valley's rich musical heritage. The event also coincides with 4ZZZ Open Day, creating a unique opportunity to experience some of Brisbane's most enduring independent music institutions in one visit.

"BIGSOUND brings together Australia's music industry, while record fairs bring together the community that supports music all year round," said Riley Fitzgerald, owner of Glitter Records. "By bringing those worlds together, we're creating a place where delegates, musicians, collectors and the wider public can meet, discover music and celebrate Brisbane's independent culture."
In an age where so much music is discovered through algorithms and screens, the California Lane CD & Record Fair offers something increasingly rare: the chance to wander, explore and make unexpected discoveries. Visitors can browse record crates, admire cover art, read liner notes, hear stories from dealers and collectors, and stumble upon music they never knew they were looking for.
