Training Description
This training will review the evidence-based model of CBT+ and review the components of active treatment and the CBT Triangle. Treatment strategies, including measurement scales and exposure through fear ladders, will be discussed.

Learning Objectives
After attending this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the reasons the goal of treatment is to address and improve the target clinical condition/symptom
- Acknowledge the benefit of identifying and reinforcing current coping strategies for managing distressing feelings of anxiety
- Describe Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and components of active treatment
- Demonstrate implementation of cognitive behavioral triangle to change unhelpful thoughts
- Implement exposure for anxiety through a Fear Ladder

9:15 am: Review of CBT including 4 interventions that comprise CBT+ and rationale

About the Presenters
Suzie Templeton is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 33 years of service to Villa Maria Community Resources and Catholic Charities. She started her career as a Residential Treatment Counselor where she worked for 7 years before she became one of the agency’s first school based clinicians at White Oak School. In 2001 Suzie began her long history in supervisory roles as the Program Coordinator of the Therapeutic After School Program in Timonium, then as Program Supervisor of the outpatient clinic which was in this building at that time and most recently has been the Director at our Dundalk Clinic. In 2015 Suzie received the Catholic Charities Mission in Action Award for her commitment and leadership. Suzie received her CBT+ training in the first cohort in 2015 and became a trainer for CBT+ in 2016. Since that time she has received ongoing training and support from UMD’s National Center for Evidenced Based Practices. She has provided CBT+ training to multiple groups in two different states, most frequently Maryland.

This course is provided free to current Catholic Charities of Baltimore employees and for a fee to non-employees. Registration and additional information, including cost is available via Eventbrite. Registration closes at 11:59 pm on November 14, 2025 or when space is full, whichever comes first. Refunds may be requested via the Eventbrite platform until November 14, 2025 at 11:59 pm; after that date no refund will be given. Course completion requirements: Participants must attend the entire course and complete a course evaluation to earn CE credit. Certificates of completion will be e-mailed within 10 business days
