Course Announcement: Contemporary Base Issues (CBI)

150th SOW, Albuquerque, NM (November 13-14, 2026)

INTRODUCTION: Brigadier General Nathan Kearns, The Acting Air National Guard Assistant to The Judge Advocate General, United States Air Force, invites all Air National Guard officers, NCOs, Airmen, and civilian staff to attend the upcoming CBI course scheduled for 13-14 November. The course is being hosted by the 150 SOW, New Mexico Air National Guard.

COURSE OVERVIEW: CBI prepares all Air National Guard officers and NCOs to work together as a team to identify and respond to contemporary base issues. Instruction covers status, military discipline, ethics, standards, readiness, mental health, domestic operations, and leadership through lectures and interactive scenarios.

Although taught by JAGs, this course is for all career fields. The cadre includes traditional drill-status guardsmen, technicians and AGRs who bring strong energy and commitment to developing ANG leaders.

LOCATION: All instruction will take place at Kirtland AFB, AFRL Conference Building, 1777 Kirtland Dr. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87116.

ORDERS/FUNDING: This announcement supports justification for orders to attend the course. Local unit training (not school) funds should be used.

REPORTING INSTRUCTIONS: You will receive an email during the week before the course begins with information related to location, parking, etc.

Check-in will begin at 0630 hours on Friday, 13 November. The course will start promptly at 0730 hours and will end at approximately 1630 hours each day. Please arrive ready to learn, interact, and participate.

UOD: OCP, flight suit, or any combination of blues. Most students and the CBI cadre wear OCPs.

REGISTRATION: Register at the link located at https://CBI-NM.eventbrite.com. Traditional Guardsman should register with an email address checked regularly. Government systems routinely block access to Eventbrite, so you should register via a personal computer or mobile device. TRAVEL/LODGING: Each registrant is responsible for their own travel and lodging reservations through DTS. If applicable, travel days to and from the course location are 12 and 15 November 2026.

LANDING FEE: The host-unit registration team will collect a voluntary landing fee to cover light snacks and beverages available on Friday and Saturday. Payment of the landing fee is required for attendees partaking in refreshments. All meals will be on your own during the course.
