A masterpiece isnโ€™t created from one piece alone.
Ballroom has always been a collection of people, stories, styles, eras, and influences woven together to create something bigger than ourselves. This year, we celebrate every piece of that picture.
From the pioneers who laid the foundation to the next generation carrying the culture forward, MOSAIC is a celebration of the many lanes, aesthetics, and moments that continue to shape Canadian Ballroom.
Tonight there is no single theme, because the culture itself is the theme.
Every category tells a different story.
Every competitor brings a different perspective.
Every piece matters.
So bring the fashion. Bring the performance. Bring the realness. Bring the energy.
And help us create the bigger picture.
๐Ÿงฉ Welcome to MOSAIC.

FACE: โ€œGRACE UNDER PRESSUREโ€
1 Trophy ๐Ÿ†
New
FF: Womens, Femme Queen, Drags, Big Girls
MF: Butch Queen, Transman

Grace Jones is the epitome of MAKE ME KNOW IT! Widely recognized in the late 1970s and 1980s, when the Jamaican-born singer, model, and actress revolutionized pop culture. She was a walking masterpiece with striking beauty. Present to the judges a face that brings us back in time and inspires art. Be the MUSE!
Command attention with the same regal poise and enigmatic allure Ms. Jones herself does! Bring it in an 80s-inspired effect! Your look must incorporate a minimum of 2 colours! Think colour blocking, leg warmers, big curly hair, shoulder pads etc! Reference photos are not mandatory, but are welcome!

COMM vs. COMM: "MAKE ME KNOW IT"
1 Trophy ๐Ÿ†
Open To All
It is a commentatorโ€™s job, not only to make moments on the mic for the girls who walk, but it is their job to maintain the flow and cadence of the function! For commentator versus commentator, show us your versatility by speeding it up and slowing it down! The phrase โ€œmake me know itโ€ must be included for your 10โ€™s, but is not mandatory for battles!
Happy chanting!

RUNWAY: โ€œTHE CRIMES OF FASHIONโ€
1 Trophy ๐Ÿ†
Virgin, New, All-American, Womens, Femme Queen, Drags, BQ Eu Tall Boys, BQ Eu Small Boys, BQ Eu Big Boys, GNC, Legends/Icons
For those who live by fashion, breathe style, and swear allegiance to the laws of couture, we all know there are certain rules you just donโ€™t breakโ€ฆ or do you?
Tonight, itโ€™s time to go against societal convention and everything the fashion world once deemed unacceptable.
Bring a creative head-to-toe runway look embodying at least two fashion faux pas and transform it into fashion. Take a styling mistake, a fashion โ€œdonโ€™t,โ€ or a crime against couture and turn something tacky, chaotic, or unconventional into something intentional, editorial, and undeniably stylish -- anti-fashion done correctly.
Donโ€™t play it safe. Take risks, be rebellious, and become a fashion fugitive. Commit a fashion felony and make the judges question everything they thought they knew about fashion.

BIZARRE: โ€œVISUAL UPRISINGโ€
1 Trophy ๐Ÿ†
Open To All
Tonight, Bizarre becomes a statement.
Through imagination, disruption, and unforgettable construction, your creation should embody a message, a cause, or a belief that matters to you -- personal, political, cultural, or emotional.
We want larger-than-life visuals, unconventional materials, exaggerated silhouettes, and concepts that demand attention. Whether inspired by resistance, liberation, identity, revolution, or social commentary, your bizarre should feel intentional, powerful, and impossible to ignore.
Above all else, it must remain bizarre: transformative, otherworldly, and fully realized.
Tonight, let the creation become the uprising.

SEX SIREN: โ€œSEX AS ARTโ€
1 Trophy ๐Ÿ†
MF: BQ Catboy, BQ Junior, BQ Senior, Transman, Butch
FF: Femme Queen, Big Girls, Womens, Drags
GNC
Seduction as a masterpiece. Tonight, the body becomes the canvas and sensuality becomes the artwork.
Inspired by fine art, classical sculpture, nude studies, painted desire, and the provocative beauty left behind by our predecessors, this category calls for sex appeal elevated into a living, breathing masterpiece.
Whether inspired by sculpture, paintings, mythology, divine figures, muses, angels, saints, sinners, or artistic movements throughout history, the goal remains the same: become the masterpiece.
The look should feel intentional, expensive, seductive, and visually captivating -- as if your body belongs framed inside a museum.
Walkers must bring a reference image of the muse or inspiration behind their look.
Tonight, donโ€™t just serve sexโ€ฆ serve art.

Two forms of expression. Two different crafts. One shared language: precision.
Old Way: bring a mime-inspired look and incorporate mime techniques, illusion, and storytelling into your performance.
New Way: bring a traditional ninja-inspired look and incorporate martial arts influences, flexibility, and precision into your performance.
Tonight, we want masters of movement, control, and expression.

REALNESS WITH A TWIST: PARTS I & II
1 Trophy ๐Ÿ†
During the Red, Black, Blue, and Green Eras, Realness with a Twist was a crowd favourite. The gag wasnโ€™t a costume change, a wig, a skirt, or a pair of heelsโ€”it was proving you could do both.
Part I:
Prove your realness is unquestionable in a look inspired by the streetwear, hip-hop, and everyday fashion of Ballroomโ€™s most influential eras. Think baggy jeans, oversized tees, hoodies, Timbs, sneakers, fitteds, snapbacks, jerseys, and effortless everyday style.
Part II:
Once youโ€™ve earned your 10s for Realness, itโ€™s time for the Twist. In the same outfit; no changes, no reveals, no shortcuts -- show us the confidence, performance, and Vogue Femme that made this category legendary.
First, get your 10s for Realness.
Then, get your 10s for the Twist.
To make it into the battles.

STREETWEAR: โ€œSTRAIGHT OFF THE PAGEโ€
1 Trophy ๐Ÿ†
Open To All
Comic books, graphic novels, manga, cartoons, and animation have given us some of the most iconic visuals in pop culture history. Tonight, we want you to bring those worlds to life through fashion.
Create a streetwear look inspired by a specific comic, manga, cartoon, animated, hero, villain, or other illustrated character of your choice. Through color, silhouette, texture, layering, styling, and creativity, transform your inspiration into a look that feels as though it stepped straight off the page and into the real world.
Bold outlines, graphic details, and illustrated effects are strongly encouraged, but the final result must still read as fashion-forward streetwear rather than costume.
Walkers must bring a reference image of their chosen character or inspiration.
Tonight, donโ€™t just wear the fit -- become the comic.

BODY: โ€œCARVED IN STONEโ€
1 Trophy ๐Ÿ†
BQ: Swimmers, Models, Muscular
FF: Womens, Lucious, Big Girl
Femme Queen
Transman: Swimmers, Models, Muscular
Butch
Tonight, we celebrate the body as a masterpiece.
Inspired by the legendary marble sculptures of Rome, Florence, and the great artists of antiquity, bring a look that transforms you into a living statue. Whether inspired by mythology, classical sculpture, divine figures, or timeless works of art, your body should appear carved from stone and worthy of a place in a museum.
Through body paint, styling, drapery, texture, or illusion, create the effect of marble, granite, limestone, or weathered stone brought to life. Cracks, aging, moss, and artistic interpretation are welcome, but the body must remain the focus.
Tonight, we donโ€™t want ordinary bodies -- we want living masterpieces.

HANDS vs ARM CONTROL โ€” โ€œTHE ART OF THE MARKโ€
1 Trophy ๐Ÿ†
Open To All
Two forms of expression.
Hands: Create a look inspired by handprints. Whether painted, printed, embroidered, appliquรฉd, or illustrated, incorporate handprints into your look in a creative way while keeping the focus on your Hands performance.
Arm Control: Create a look inspired by geometric shapes. Squares, circles, triangles, Xโ€™s, lines, or other prisms should be incorporated into your look, reflecting the precision, angles, and control that define the category.
Creativity is encouraged, but rememberโ€”the look should complement your performance, not overpower it.

BEST DRESSED: โ€œWE'RE FASHIONโ€
1 Trophy ๐Ÿ†
Male Figure, Female Figure, GNC
Fashion! Tonight we want to see it. Ballroom houses historically have been named after fashion icons, fashion houses and impactful brands. We want to see how much you can represent your house and bring an inspired look from a fashion house or fashion icon in ballroom. If you are not in a house, choose one of the fashion houses or fashion icons in ballroom and bring it! We are looking for ELEVATION! STATEMENTS! PRECISION! ELEGANZA! It's Best Dressed, Darling!

REALNESS: โ€œHONOUR THE LEGACYโ€
1 Trophy ๐Ÿ†
New, Schoolboy, Executive, Thugs, Prettyboy, Everyday, Butch, Transman, Butch, jr. Femme Queen, Femme Queen, Drags
This category has been rooted in survival, safety, and the necessity of "passing" in a hostile world. Even today, with freedoms experienced by many, there are people who still benefit from passing and have no other choice.
In ballroom history, there have been some notable Pioneers, Icons and Legends of realness that have solidified the category and its relevance. Tonight, we want to see how well you are at archival digs and learn about a pioneer, icon or legend of your subcategory that ate it in the 1900s and/or early 2000s and honour their legacy by eating it on the floor yourself.
This is not your moment to act but connect with an icon that inspires you. YOUR realness will be judged, NOT theirs.
Reference photo required.
