For commentator versus commentator, show us your versatility by speeding it up and slowing it down! The phrase “make me know it” must be included for your 10’s, but is not mandatory for battles!

For those who live by fashion, breathe style, and swear allegiance to the laws of couture, we all know there are certain rules you just don’t break… or do you?
Tonight, it’s time to go against societal convention and everything the fashion world once deemed unacceptable.
Bring a creative head-to-toe runway look embodying at least two fashion faux pas and transform it into fashion. Take a styling mistake, a fashion “don’t,” or a crime against couture and turn something tacky, chaotic, or unconventional into something intentional, editorial, and undeniably stylish -- anti-fashion done correctly.
Don’t play it safe. Take risks, be rebellious, and become a fashion fugitive. Commit a fashion felony and make the judges question everything they thought they knew about fashion.

During the Red, Black, Blue, and Green Eras, Realness with a Twist was a crowd favourite. The gag wasn’t a costume change, a wig, a skirt, or a pair of heels—it was proving you could do both.
Part I:
Prove your realness is unquestionable in a look inspired by the streetwear, hip-hop, and everyday fashion of Ballroom’s most influential eras. Think baggy jeans, oversized tees, hoodies, Timbs, sneakers, fitteds, snapbacks, jerseys, and effortless everyday style.

Through color, silhouette, texture, layering, styling, and creativity, transform your inspiration into a look that feels as though it stepped straight off the page and into the real world.
Bold outlines, graphic details, and illustrated effects are strongly encouraged, but the final result must still read as fashion-forward streetwear rather than costume.

Through body paint, styling, drapery, texture, or illusion, create the effect of marble, granite, limestone, or weathered stone brought to life. Cracks, aging, moss, and artistic interpretation are welcome, but the body must remain the focus.

Hands: Create a look inspired by handprints. Whether painted, printed, embroidered, appliquéd, or illustrated, incorporate handprints into your look in a creative way while keeping the focus on your Hands performance.
Arm Control: Create a look inspired by geometric shapes. Squares, circles, triangles, X’s, lines, or other prisms should be incorporated into your look, reflecting the precision, angles, and control that define the category.
Creativity is encouraged, but remember—the look should complement your performance, not overpower it.

This category has been rooted in survival, safety, and the necessity of "passing" in a hostile world. Even today, with freedoms experienced by many, there are people who still benefit from passing and have no other choice.
In ballroom history, there have been some notable Pioneers, Icons and Legends of realness that have solidified the category and its relevance. Tonight, we want to see how well you are at archival digs and learn about a pioneer, icon or legend of your subcategory that ate it in the 1900s and/or early 2000s and honour their legacy by eating it on the floor yourself.
This is not your moment to act but connect with an icon that inspires you. YOUR realness will be judged, NOT theirs.
