Hello all. It is time to start thinking about joining us at our 2025 Cape Breton BandFest in our new location. The event will be held October 24-26, 2025 at the NSCC Sydney Waterfront Campus. This beautiful new facility is located on the Esplanade in downtown Sydney. For those of you who have not been to a bandfest before, it is a great weekend of music and fun activities with people from all over the Maritimes and beyond. We begin on Friday evening and finish up at about 3 pm on Sunday with a free concert for the public.
Our conductors for this weekend are Dr. Denise Grant, Richard Bennett and Chris Ward. All three of these conductors are awesome musicians and educators and you will enjoy them immensely while learning and perfecting your musical talents.
We also have hired wonderful clinicians...more on these individuals to come!
Fun activities have always been a big part of the CB BandFests. Friday evening we will host a beer and pizza party where you can re-aquaint with friends from previous bandfests and make new friends. Saturday evening is a more lively event....details to be announced as they are finalized but it will be fun!!!
Accommodations are readily available in the area. The Simon Hotel (formerly the Cambridge Suites) is next door to the event site. The discounted price for a room with two queen beds is $179.00 a night plus tax. This price is available as long as rooms are available. The rooms can be booked by calling 1-800-565-9466 and requesting a room under the name Second Wind Community Band. The Holiday Inn is a couple of minutes walk from the event site and has offered a discounted price of $169.00 per night (plus tax) for a room with two queen beds. These rooms can be booked by calling 902-562-7500 and giving the block code of SWC and the group name Second Wind Community. This block of rooms will be held until Sept 25. Parking is included for both hotels. Breakfast is not included.
The registration fee for the weekend is $120.00 for adults ($80.00 for an additional family member) and $50.00 for students. These rates include both socials and lots of coffee break goodies !!! The cost for a guest who is only attending the socials is $10.00
