In this intermediate–experimental series, we continue the exploration begun in the Basic Analog & Alternative Photography course. This program is designed for photographers who already have a solid foundation in analog photography and are eager to push their practice further through experimentation and personal artistic exploration.
To enroll, participants are expected to have basic experience with:
Shooting, developing, and printing film in the darkroom (B&W and color), Using a large-format camera and Fundamental alternative processes such as anthotype and cyanotype
The course is organized in an experimental, modular format. Rather than following a fixed path, we offer a wide range of techniques—a “menu” of possibilities—from which you can choose what you want to explore in depth. Workshops will be organized around the techniques you are most interested in mastering. Some sessions focus on cutting-edge experimental practices, while others provide strong technical foundations to build upon.
In the final sessions, we will combine multiple techniques, allowing you to develop your own contemporary analog, alternative, and experimental photographic work.
Possible Topics (depending on participants’ interests):
-The artistic mindset in photography: a brief review of the basic course and an overview of creative possibilities for developing your personal visual language
-Camera-based experimental techniques: pinhole photography and soft-focus methods
-Silver-halide-based processes: liquid emulsions, lumen prints, and tintypes
-Special films and film treatments: infrared photography and film souping
-Alternative darkroom printing techniques: split-grade printing and lith printing
-Post-visualization in the darkroom: Sabattier (pseudo-solarization), mordançage, and print toning
-Duotone and multi-colored cyanotypes
…and any other analog or alternative techniques participants wish to explore
