💃 Castles in the Air: A story of ballroom dancing, social revolutionaries, unexpected heroes, and the magic of public libraries 🕺
Vernon and Irene Castle were ballroom dancers of the Vaudeville era. Their attitudes were modern and their commercial success was legendary. Their story has unexpected detours into the shadows of ragtime, the glittery world of fame and fortune, and the battlefields of World War I. But the real hero of this intriguing tale is the public library system whose resources make their story come to life.
Foley Community Library is proud to welcome back Dolores Hydock of the Alabama Humanities Alliance, whose oratory magic will bring these legendary characters to life!
