Come and plant scrub with us at our first ever event at Castle Howard - our latest youth-led nature recovery project
About this Event

Join us for a festive planting day at our brand new youth-led nature recovery project at Castle Howard!

Who is this for?

Young people aged 18-30 interested in spending time outside with other like-minded folk and keen to learn about scrub and tree planting, parkland restoration and explore our new site!

What to expect:

Thorn is the mother of the oak! Help us to restore the parkland at Castle Howard by planting dense banks of thorny scrub, from which over time our majestic new oak trees will emerge.

We'll also be using natural materials to help project the scrub banks as they establish themselves, stopping deer and grazing animals from nibbling too much of our new saplings!

About Castle Howard:

Castle Howard is an Estate, House and Gardens made up of 6,100 acres of farmland, 2,100 acres of woodland and 600 acres of parkland. Recently the estate just started a nature restoration project known as Bog Hall, to transform 440 acres from difficult to farm, low-yielding agricultural land into a thriving space for nature. Side note, it is also the location of Bridgerton :o

Youngwilders are collaborating with Castle Howard on a 50 acre youth-led nature recovery project where young people are taking the reigns on an area of Parkland. This event marks our first youth-led intervention in the parkland and we are very excited about the times to come :)
