Casting Call: 2027 Children's Lunar New Year Showcase — Original Children's Theater Production
Does your child love storytelling, reciting poems, or acting? .
Charlotte Chinese Story Time (CCST) is holding auditions for our brand-new original children's theater production, to be performed as part of the 2027 Children's Lunar New Year Showcase!
We're looking for 8–10 young performers, ages 6–12, who love Chinese culture and are excited to take the stage. No prior acting experience needed — just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!
Who Can Audition
🌟 Ages 6–12
🌟 Comfortable speaking Chinese, and able to recite, tell a story, or act in Chinese
🌟 Enjoys performing and is eager to learn stage skills
🌟 Responsible and able to commit to rehearsals
🌟 Family is able to support the rehearsal and performance schedule
Audition Prep — Choose ONE
🎤 Recite a Chinese poem, or
🎤 Tell a 1–2 minute story in Chinese
There will also be simple acting activities and role-based interactions during the audition, so our teachers can get to know each child and help find the role that fits them best. No pressure — just come and have fun!

🕐 Time: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

✨ Professional instruction from experienced teachers
✨ Training in acting, recitation, and stage performance
✨ A featured role in the official 2027 Children's Lunar New Year Showcase
✨ A meaningful experience in teamwork and stage performance
About the Cost
This project is supported in part by the Arts & Science Council. Thanks to this support, CCST is able to provide free rehearsals and professional instruction — families will not need to pay any class or rehearsal fees. Selected performers' families will only be responsible for the cost of costumes, with details shared once roles are assigned.
A Note for Families
This theater production is a team effort. Once selected, we ask that families support their child in attending rehearsals consistently and help accommodate the rehearsal and performance schedule.
Every role matters — whether it's a lead or a supporting part, every child who steps on stage is a star! ⭐
We warmly welcome all children who love Chinese culture and performance to join us — come and give it a try!
