Castiglion del Bosco | Rosso & Brunello di Montalcino by Ian D'Agata

Castiglion del Bosco is a trendsetter in Montalcino. It's the first estate to routinely study Rosso di Montalcino vineyards as a potential source of single-cru wines.Cecilia Leoneschi, the winemaker at Castiglion del Bosco, believes that Rosso di Montalcino can express different vineyard sites just like Brunello does. And so, starting ten years ago, Castiglion del Bosco began working on identifying single vineyard sites that would give the best Rosso di Montalcino wine possible, and hence, they now make three different Rosso di Montalcino wines. This, of course, coupled with their many different Brunellos, makes Castiglion del Bosco a super interesting source of top-quality wines of the northwestern central part of the Montalcino denomination.
