Casamigos World Cup Tasting
Friday, June 19 · 6:00 to 9:00 PM · Primo Liquors Weston

Three Casamigos expressions side by side. The whole point: tasting the
line in sequence shows you the exact arc of bourbon-cask influence going up
while agave brightness goes down. That arc is the most important thing to
understand about modern aged tequila.

The Casamigos story (yes, the Clooney one)
George Clooney, Rande Gerber, and Mike Meldman started Casamigos in 2013 as
their personal tequila for entertaining at their Cabo houses (the name means
"house of friends"). They had no plans to sell it commercially until friends
kept asking where to buy it. They launched in 2013, scaled fast, and sold to
Diageo in 2017 for 700 million dollars cash plus 300 million in earnouts. It is
still the largest celebrity-brand sale in spirits history. Casamigos is made at
NOM 1416 in Los Altos, Jalisco (the same Diageo distillery that produces Don
Julio) and the Blanco has taken Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits
Competition multiple years running.

What we are pouring (and why each is on the table)

Casamigos Blanco
100% blue Weber agave from Los Altos (the higher-altitude red-clay region of
Jalisco, which tends to produce sweeter, fruitier blanco profiles than the
Valley region). 80-hour ferment versus the 36 to 48 hour industry standard,
which is the actual reason this tastes softer than most blancos people compare
it to. Soft agave, light citrus, a touch of vanilla even without barrel time.
Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition multiple years.

Casamigos Reposado
7 months in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels. The bourbon influence shows
up as soft vanilla and caramel, but the long ferment of the underlying blanco
keeps the agave from disappearing. This is the bottle most cocktail bartenders
in South Florida default to for a Reposado Old Fashioned because it can hold
its own against stirred dilution without going flat.

Casamigos Añejo
14 months in American oak. The agave is much quieter now. The barrel takes
over: butterscotch, cinnamon, dried orange peel. Drink this one neat at room
temperature, not chilled, not in a cocktail. It is the most contemplative of
the three.

Why come
Free flight through the entire core line. By the end of the night you will
know whether you are a Blanco person, a Reposado person, or an Añejo person
with conviction. That clarity is worth showing up for.

Free tasting. 21+, valid ID at the door. Lineup may vary
based on availability.
