Our 5k is perfect for family walk/run and race enthusiasts alike but thats not all! We have a treasure trove of free family fun activities waiting for you! And guess what? The first 100 people to join us ger a mouth-watering free hot dog lunch. Who could resist the charm of a community event that promises fun, family bonding, and delicious treats all in one go?
But it's not just about the event; it's about tackling real problems in our community. What better way to make memories and connections? Join us, make new friends, build lasting connections, and be part of a supportive community. And hey, if you want to do even more, we welcome volunteers to host this event. Who is CASA of Douglas County? In 1993, agency founders of CASA of Douglas County saw a local need to provide advocates for children who have experienced abuse and neglect who are in the child welfare system.
Our well-trained Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers are carefully monitored to ensure they are taking on caseloads that suit their requirements. This allows them the energy and time to monitor and advocate for each child's specific needs.
CASA volunteers serve as the "eyes and ears" for the judges in child welfare cases. This includes researching each child's situation and making objective recommendations to help them reclaim their childhoods from abuse and neglect. CASA volunteers are frequently the only stable presence in these children's lives.
