We're again in need of volunteers to carry the signs that individually represent the Fallen Heroes of Georgia in this year’s Dacula Memorial Day Parade being held on Monday, May 26th. The signs that volunteers will carry are the same signs that once lined the racecourse of the Fallen Heroes of Georgia 5K. These soldiers gave their lives in Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, and here on our home soil. Now we have the chance to honor that sacrifice. The 18"X24" signs of our Fallen military members can be reserved on a first come and first serve basis. Gold Star Families and friends of the Fallen, please reserve your loved one's sign by also sending an email to the address listed below.
Our involvement in this parade represents the true meaning of this often-misunderstood holiday, so please don’t miss volunteering your time for this very meaningful event.
To Volunteer:
• Email [email protected]
• List your name along with your total number of very reliable volunteers. You will then be the team leader and sole point of contact for your group. As the parade draws closer, we will request that you follow up with your volunteers.
• To improve communications, perhaps ask your friends, family, or coworkers to also send us an email. That way everyone receives all up-to-date event information as the day draws nearer.
• This will allow us to know where we are in our goal of 312 volunteers.
Event Details:
• Date: Memorial Day- Monday, May 26, 2025
• Times: Arrive at the staging by no later than 8:30am, instruction given at 9:25am, signs handed out at approximately 9:35am, parade starts at 10:00am, and we are finished by 11:00am or so.
• Location: In Dacula Georgia which is east of Lawrenceville. Hebron Church is the staging area for most of the parade, EXCEPT FOR OUR GROUP.
• Staging: All Sign Carrying Parade Volunteers will stage in the drive of Dacula High School.
• Parking: There are a few choices, one is a lot adjacent to Dacula High School, in the back of Hebron Church, or in any of the parking lots that surround Dacula. Each lot has pros and cons concerning exiting times and distance from the staging area.
• Our Group's Meeting Spot: Starting in 2023, AGAIN, our group’s new staging/meeting area will be in the front drive of Dacula High School.
• Upon Arrival: At 8:30am, immediately go to the ticket table located in our group's meeting spot and request a ticket for each volunteer that you had reserved by email. We ask volunteers to complete this very important task to make sure one volunteer has arrived in time for each sign of a Fallen Hero.
• Recommended Attire: Weather appropriate, casual, but please be neat. No flip flops or other loud or distracting footwear, please. Dress like you're representing a Fallen Hero.
