Carl Hampton Remembrance Day
About this Event
The day will begin with a visit to Golden Gate Cemetery (8400 Hirsch Rd.), where attendees are invited to gather for a moment of reflection and to pay their respects at Carl Hampton's gravesite. Following the cemetery visit, guests are invited to a commemorative reception at Sweet Minds (4602 Falls St), where the community will come together to celebrate his legacy through fellowship, education, and culture.
The reception will feature:
- Light refreshments, including light bites
- A special message from members of the Black Panther Party reflecting on Carl Hampton's contributions and legacy
- Access to the Frenchtown Art Gallery showcasing works that celebrate Black history, culture, and community
- Access to the Sweet Minds bookstore featuring literature focused on history, social justice, culture, and community empowerment
This annual gathering serves as an opportunity to remember Carl Hampton's vision, strengthen community connections, and inspire continued action toward equity, education, and cultural preservation. All are welcome to attend as we honor the past while investing in the future of our community
