Caring with Confidence: Practical Skills for Everyday Care
About this Event
Join us for Session 4 of The Care Academy: Caring with Confidence, an interactive workshop designed to help caregivers make health information easier to understand and use in everyday life.
Together, we’ll practice how to spot questionable health information and misinformation, including content found on social media and created with AI. We’ll also talk about how to ask doctors and nurses better questions, understand medications and possible side effects, and make safer choices without judgment or shame.
Through real-life examples, group discussion, and hands-on activities, participants will practice simple skills they can use when caring for themselves, an elder, family member, friend, or neighbor.
You’ll leave with practical tools to help you:
- Decide whether health information seems trustworthy or questionable
- Recognize warning signs in AI-generated and social media health content
- Ask doctors and nurses clear questions and get answers you understand
- Make safer decisions around medications, pain pills, alcohol, substances, mobility, and other everyday risks
- Create your own “3 Questions to Ask My Healthcare Provider” card
- Find trusted health information and community resources when you need them
You don’t need to be a healthcare expert to be a confident caregiver. Sometimes, knowing what to ask, where to look, and when something doesn’t feel quite right can make all the difference.
Come learn, practice, ask questions, and build your caregiving confidence with us.
