Join us for the 4-part Caring with Confidence Lunch & Learn series with Dr. Rose Beeson, Associate Professor at The University of Akron and geriatric mental health educator for the Alzheimer’s Association. Dr. Beeson will share expert insights on aging and the Alzheimer’s caregiving journey to strengthen your skills and understanding as a caregiver.Complimentary lunch will be provided.
September 18: Communicating Effectively
Learn how dementia affects communication, including tips for communicating well with family, friends, and healthcare professionals.
October 9: Understanding Grief Throughout the Alzheimer's Journey
Caring for someone living with Alzheimer's brings a unique and often prolonged feeling of grief. Join us to learn about the different types of grief that both caregivers and those living with the disease experience as the disease progresses.
November 6: Recognizing the Signs: Strategies for Surviving the Holidays
The holidays are often filled with sharing, laughter, and memories, but, for dementia caregivers, they can also bring stress, disappointment and sadness. Join us to gain an understanding of Alzheimer's disease and learn strategies for making the holiday season a success.
December 4: Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors
Understand the common dementia-related behaviors and how they are a form of communication, non-medical approaches to behaviors and how to recognize when additional help is needed.
