No-cost guidance on Medicare, senior benefits, caregiving, and in-home support helping employees navigate responsibilities.
About this Event

HR professionals can better support today’s workforce, including both senior employees and those in the sandwich generation, by understanding resources such as the Alabama SHIP and the Aging and Disability Resource Center. These programs provide no-cost guidance on Medicare, senior benefits, caregiving, and in-home support, helping employees navigate complex personal responsibilities that often impact their work. By connecting employees to these trusted services, HR can reduce stress, improve retention, and create a more supportive workplace for those balancing careers with aging or caregiving needs and responsibilities.

Serving Mobile, Baldwin, and Escambia Counties, the ADRC connects seniors (60+), individuals with disabilities, and their caregivers to essential resources, guidance, and support services.

Key Services Include:

  • Aging Hotline for information, counseling, and benefits screening
  • Medicare counseling, including the Medicare Savings Program
  • Medicaid Waiver programs with in-home care provider options
  • Assistance with prescription drug cost savings
  • Wellness and educational classes
  • Legal counseling and long-term care Ombudsman advocacy
  • Caregiver support, education, and respite services
  • Senior Nutrition Centers offering meals and social activities
  • Home-delivered meals and SNAP food assistance

Why HR Professionals Should Attend this Workshop:

1. Reduces HR’s Administrative Burden – Instead of HR staff fielding complex Medicare questions, employees get direct access to expert, state-funded guidance.

2. Provides a Free Benefit to Employees – SHIP offers free seminars for your employees and shows that your organization cares about employee life transitions, adding value at no cost to your HR budget.

3. Helps Retain Experienced Employees – Employees nearing retirement often have valuable skills; giving them resources for planning Medicare can help them stay engaged longer and transition smoothly when ready.

4. Supports Employee Well-Being – By giving employees accurate and unbiased Medicare information, you reduce their stress and help them make confident healthcare decisions.

5. Improves Financial Literacy – Your organization supports your employees in gaining insights into cost-saving opportunities, helping them protect their retirement income & make informed choices without unnecessary expenses.
