Caribbean Queens Festival: Carnival In The Streets

Caribbean Queens Festival returns this summer with Carnival in the Streets, a free community celebration of Caribbean culture, music, food, art, movement, and joy.
Join us on Sunday, August 16th, 2026 from 11am-6pm at Theater Square, 917 Broadway in Downtown Tacoma.
Expect live music, Caribbean food, a vendor market, family-friendly fun, and our first community costume parade through the streets.
This year’s confirmed performers include:
Steel Rain / PLU
Dancing Ting
Caña Dulce
Las Molas Association
WA Capoeira
DJ Kimere Vibez
TUPAC Cuban Dance
PSD Pans of Steel
And yes, we’re doing Carnival Tacoma style. Feathers, rhythm, color, culture, community, and plenty plenty vibes.
We’ll also be hosting a community art workshop next month where folks can sign up to create their own costumes for the parade. More details coming soon.
This festival is community-funded, and we are working hard to keep vendor costs as low as possible so small businesses and cultural vendors can participate without being priced out. Additional sponsorships will help us pay performers, support vendors, cover event costs, and keep this celebration free for the community.
We are also looking for day-of volunteers to help us bring everything to life. If you love culture, community, and a little beautiful chaos, we need you.
Huge thanks to Downtown Tacoma Partnership for supporting us with the use of Theater Square, and to Tacoma Venues & Events and the City of Tacoma’s Arts & Cultural Vitality Division for grant funding.
Special thanks to Chris Hoyt for asking the City to redistribute funds awarded to Mattice Beauty Supply to community projects like Caribbean Queens. Mattice was supposed to be part of our planning community this year, and we are carrying her with us in this work. So yes, we have to show up and show out extra big for her.
