Conch Shell Productions (CSP) a Queens-based nonprofit dedicated to amplifying Caribbean Diaspora voices in theatre and film proudly presents a free staged reading of The Buzzer written by acclaimed Jamaican heritage playwright Chandra Thomas and directed by Jamaican heritage filmmaker and storyteller Danae Grandison on Thursday October 2 2025 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Queens Public Library’s Forest Hills branch (108-19 71st Ave Queens).
The event is part of CSP’s Bluelight Reading Series which highlights groundbreaking new works by underrepresented Caribbean heritage playwrights. Each reading is followed by a talkback that invites audiences to engage with the themes of the play and contribute to the creative process building dialogue between artists and the community.
About the Playwright & Director
Playwright Chandra Thomas brings a sharp deeply human voice to the stage exploring questions of identity resilience and belonging through bold character-driven storytelling. Director Danae Grandison known for her cinematic eye and evocative storytelling style lends her artistry to this staged reading guiding audiences into the heart of the play’s powerful themes.
