Good Samaritan Lodge #336, the historic Masonic Lodge located on Lincoln Square in the heart of downtown Gettysburg, is proud to announce, "Care on the Square: A Community Sleep-Out to End Homelessness," taking place from 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, through the afternoon of Sunday, October 25.
The event will be held in the south quadrant of Lincoln Square, between the Will’s House, ACNB Bank, and Middle Street, and invites community members to stand in solidarity with those experiencing homelessness. Participants are encouraged to make a $50 donation and spend the night outdoors on the square, voluntarily giving up one night of comfort to raise awareness of the realities faced by individuals and families who do not have the choice of a safe place to sleep.
Throughout the event, Good Samaritan Lodge #336 will offer an all-night free soup kitchen inside the lodge, along with inspiring presentations from local community leaders, nonprofit organizations, and musicians. The weekend will conclude with a community spaghetti dinner on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with donations gratefully accepted.
All proceeds from the event will be distributed among local organizations dedicated to:
• Affordable and emergency housing
• Food security and hunger relief
• Addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery services
We are currently seeking nonprofit organizations, businesses, faith communities, civic groups, and volunteers to collaborate in making this event a meaningful community effort. Together, we can raise awareness, foster compassion, and provide tangible support to our neighbors in need.
For more information or to become a community partner, please contact Event Chairman Darin Weeks at (774) 212-3810 or connect with Good Samaritan Lodge #336 on social media.
Additional event details, registration information, and a schedule of speakers and performers will be announced soon.
