Concluding the exhibition Care, the Art Gallery of Regina invites participating artists, community partners, and attendees to gather and share reflections on the exhibitions and experiential anatomy workshops about the intersection of embodiment, experiences of illness and disability and creative practice.
Dance artist Ashley Johnson will perform her solo movement exploration "Conversations with a Faltering Heart" which is equal parts a love letter to a slowly dying heart and a deep dive into the complex vasculature that defines the organ at the center of us.
Johnson will perform her choreography accompanied by a live experimental soundscape by Clinton Ackerman using recordings of the dancer's echocardiograms.
Performance 3:30 - 4pm, 15 minute duration.
Johnson acknowledges Traci Foster's invaluable contributions as rehearsal director to this artist-developed and performed artwork. "Conversations with a Faltering Heart" emerges from The Moving Heart, a collaborative installation with Karlie King that brings together clay heart sculptures and internally sourced dance creation to create a multi-sensory interactive exhibition that brings the internal external. Johnson expresses gratitude to all the experts who consulted on the development of The Moving Heart.
