CARDIO, STRENGTH & STRETCH

Build strength, stamina, mobility, and flexibility in a supportive setting led by James Heeney, a former full-time Ballet Chicago student and Ballet Chicago Studio Company member.
This 90-minute Saturday morning class combines progressive cardiovascular movement, functional strength work, mobility, and guided stretching. The extended format is intentional: rather than 90 minutes of continuous exercise, the class provides time for professional demonstration, detailed verbal instruction, thoughtful transitions, individual feedback, recovery, and proper execution of each exercise.
Drawing on James’s extensive professional dance training, the class emphasizes body awareness, coordination, control, posture, and quality of movement while developing practical strength and conditioning.
Each class will incorporate:
Cardiovascular movement to gradually elevate the heart rate and develop stamina and coordination.
Strength and stability exercises designed to build controlled, functional strength through the major muscle groups.
Mobility work to improve comfortable, usable range of motion and movement quality.
Guided stretching to develop flexibility and provide a deliberate transition out of the more active portions of class.
Exercises can be adjusted for different experience and fitness levels, allowing participants to work at an appropriate intensity while maintaining sound technique.
Saturdays at 9:00 AM • 90 minutes
