Cardboard Automata: invent a story machine at Artrise (7yrs +)

In this workshop, young inventors will design and built their very own moving cardboard automata : a mechanical, moving sculpture that twists, bobs, wriggles and flicks at the turn of a handle.

Choose a character, imagine a scene and create the moment.

Participants will explore designs and experiment with mechanisms to create a machine that brings the moment alive.

A ship on stormy seas?

A creature dancing a jig?

A cat (eternally) chasing a ball?

Every creation is unique, every maker is an inventor. What will your automaton do?

​​​​​​​​​​​​​This session involves safely using scissors and hot-glueing under supervision.

Recommended for participants aged 7 yrs plus. Grown-ups are encouraged to join in and make one too! (please book a ticket)
